70 percent ex-foreign vessels don’t pay tax

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Maritime and Fishery Affairs Susi Pudjiastuti stated that about 70 percent of ex-foreign vessels did not have non-tax state revenues (PNBP). Many of them are not even recorded in the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

The ministry records that there are 1,300 ex-foreign vessels. About 70 percent of them do not have PNBP. "The company status of 40 percent of the vessels is not listed," Minister Pudjiastuti said during meeting with Commission IV at the House of Representatives on Monday, January 26.

The minister said that she would take action towards the vessels. The meeting also talked on several Ministerial Regulations which burdened businessman on fishery, namely Ministerial Regulation No 56 and 57/2014 and Ministerial Regulation No 1 and 2/2015. The regulation is considered hampering the business of local fishermen.
