Cirebon to host Nusantara Palace Festival in 2017

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG  -- The Sultan XIV of Cirebon Palace King Duke Arief Natadiningrat announced that Cirebon will host the Nusantara Palace Festival in 2017.

"We have reported to the West Java Governor regarding the preparations and to seek their views and ideas relating to the Nusantara Palace Festival in Cirebon," Arief stated here on Wednesday.

Kings from various regions in Indonesia will attend the Nusantara Palace Festival 2017 in Cirebon.

The Cirebon Palace is an integral part of West Java's culture and the successor of Galuh Sunda Padjadjaran Kingdom that started in the city.

"During the meeting with the West Java governor, we have discussed about the development of the province, particularly in the religion sector and developing the tourism and culture sectors as well as Cirebon as a metropolitan city," Arief noted.

Governor Ahmad Heryawan said the West Java Administration will promote Cirebon as a historical tourism city in the province.

"Absolutely, the administration along with the central government is committed to preserving the palace," Heryawan stated.

According to the governor, the administration's efforts to preserve the palace include providing funding for the operational and preservation costs.

The administration also gives special attention to the Cirebon Palace including preserving the historical mosque and the Cultural Art Vocational School in the city.

"We will preserve the historical mosque in Cirebon, which is currently being used for offering prayers. We will also support the Cultural Art Vocational School in the city," the governor remarked.
