REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR -- Several gas stations in East Java admits that they inflict losses due to declining price of fuel. Government has already declined the price, but the gas stations still have remaining stocks.

"We purchased premium (88-octane fuel) when the price was high. We still have the stock," a staff at Besuki Gas Station in East Java said on Monday, January 19.

He explained that his gas station still had remaining 12,000 tonnes of premium and 8,000 tonnes of diesel fuel. "If they time 1,000 IDR, we incur losses around 20 million IDR," he said. Despite losses, he still operates the gas station with new price.

Republika saw that several gas stations in Pantura were closed on Monday after the new price of fuel was implemented. Several staffs of the gas stations said that they didn't have any stock of fuel.

In Banyuwangi, several gas stations were packed with motorcycles. The staff said that the consumers visited his gas stations on Sunday night, but he didn't have the stock. "They come back today," he said.
