REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG -- The Ministry of Law and Human Rights for Central Java office has completed all preparations for the execution of five death convicts on Nusakambangan Island, Cilacap district, Central Java.
"All preparations that become our tasks for the execution of the death convicts have been completed," Head of the Ministry's office for Penitentiary affairs of Central Java, Yuspahrudin said here on Thursday (15/1).
But he did not give the date on which the convicts were to be executed.
He said that the permits for the execution were issued for the five death convicts based on the request of the Attorney General's Office.
In the meantime, the Attorney General's Office said all five convicts to face the death sentence together on Jan 18 have been gathered on the notorious Nusakambangan island off southern Central Java.
"Another convict would be executed in Boyalali, Central Java," Attorney General HM Prasetyo said here on Thursday.
The six convicts are Malawian Namaona Denis (48), Brazilian Marco Archer Cardoso Mareira (53), Nigerian Daniel Enemua (38), Ang Kim Soei 62) (citizenship not clear) , Vietnamese Tran Thi Bich Hanh (37) and Indonesian Rani Andriani alias Melisa Aprilia.
Their appeal for clemency were rejected by the president on 30 December 2014.
They have been held in different prisons so far including two in Tangerang of Banten, three in Nusakambangan, and one in Semarang.
Prasetyo said they were already informed three days earlier that they would be executed on January 18 .
The ambassadors of their respective countries also already arrived on Nusakambangan to meet them before their execution, he said.
"Execution would be made at once for security reason," he said.
