REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SUKABUMI -- Landslide, caused by heavy rain in the last 30 days, buried 26 houses in Sukabumi, West Java. No dead victim is reported.

"No dead victim, but the houses are heavily damaged," Local Authorities, Asep Suhenda, said on Monday, January 5.

He said that heavy rain caused the cliff behind the houses to fall. About 30 people who lived in the houses knew that it would happen. They chose to find shelter before the disaster took place.

Local authorities banned them to come back to their houses. They are warned that there might be another landslide. Police and Indonesian Armed Forces are securing the area and cleaning the debris.

A staff from Local Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD), Usman Susilo, said they were still compiling the data of damaged houses. "About 9 houses are heavily damaged. 19 houses are lightly damaged," he said.
