REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- State-owned bank, PT Bank Mandiri Tbk, plans to open a full branch in Malaysia. It has prepared 300 million ringgit to open the branch.
"We have sent permission letter, but we haven't obtained green light yet," Executive Director of Bank Mandiri, Budi Gunadi Sadikin said recently. Bank Mandiri is still waiting for bilateral MoU between Financial Service Authority (OJK) and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) scheduled in early 2015.
Bank Mandiri also plans to open a branch in Singapore. However, Singapore still shut itself on reciprocality. "We need big amount of capital to open such branch," he said.
