Indonesian mining firm wins best sustainability report award 2014

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KOLAKA -- State-owned mining company PT Aneka Tambang (ANTAM) has bagged two Sustainability Reporting Awards (SRA) 2014, General Director of ANTAM I Made Surata said here on Tuesday (16/12).

The two awards are for the Best Sustainability Report 2014 in Mining and Metal category and the Commendation For the 1st Time G4 Report 2014, he added.

Made Surata noted that the awards recognized ANTAM's social and environmental responsibilities, which they reported in accordance with international report standards.

"The report on social responsibility and environmental management programs has proved ANTAM's commitment to transparency and accountability," he added.

According to Made Surata, the annual awards are the outcome of the cooperation between the National Centre for Sustainability Reporting, the Indonesian Netherlands Association, and the American Chamber of Commerce.

The award is supported by the Ministry of Forestry and Environment, the Embassy of the Netherlands, the National Committee of Governance Policy, the Association of Indonesian Management Accountant (IAMI), and the Forum for Corporate Governance in Indonesia.

Assessment for the SRA 2014 was done on the basis of the Global Reporting Initiative's Sustainability Reporting Guidelines, he explained.

The jury consisted of representatives from the IAMI, the Indonesia Stock Exchange, some universities, the National Committee of Governance Policy, mass media, and several Non-Governmental Organizations.
