REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian intelligence has detected recruitment and growing activities of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) movement in Poso of Central Sulawesi, stated Coordinating Minister of Political, Legal and Security Affairs Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno.

"There are many Indonesian and foreign people who have entered the Poso area. President Joko Widodo has ordered security institutions to anticipate ISIS activities, so that the development efforts are not disrupted," Tedjo remarked here on Tuesday (16/12).

President Joko Widodo had received the report directly and had ordered related security institutions to take efforts to stop the growth of ISIS movement that can disturb the security conditions.

In connection with the intelligence report, the ministry will coordinate with the immigration agency to monitor people who are entering or leaving the country.

Tedjo noted that hundreds of Indonesian people are influenced by ISIS. He further added that the government will investigate the case to prevent ISIS members from entering or leaving Indonesia.

He added that 110 foreign people have been identified as ISIS members in Poso District.

"The activities are a cause of concern to the local people. The governments of Central Sulawesi and Poso Regent have sought assistance to handle ISIS movement in the region," Tedjo affirmed.

The anti-terrorism unit Detachment 88 arrested seven people suspected of being involved in ISIS activities in Poso. Four of them hail from Turkey.

Since August 2014, the police have detected ISIS activities in Central Sulawesi. They identified terrorist activities led by Santoso Abu Wardah, which is similar to the ISIS.

Based on several findings of ISIS flag-raising incidents in Poso, Chief of Central Sulawesi Police Brigadier General Ari Dono Sumanto suspects that Santoso's team has joined the ISIS group.
