REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Islamic Development Bank (IDB) officially opens representative office, or known as Country Gateway Office (CGO), in Jakarta. The office is expected to strengthen relations that have been built since 1975.

"We expect the representative office to play effective role in supporting development for the government and also connecting IDB and national private sector," Minister of Finance Bambang Brodjonegoro said on Thursday, December 12.

The office, he said, was opened at a time when Indonesia had a new government. He hopes IDB can get the advantage from such situation by supporting government's target to elevate people's prosperity.

"We have a good relationship with IDB since 1975, but there was a delay on bureaucracy. We hope our coordination on infrastructure funding will be enhanced with this office," he said.

IDB only had field representative in Indonesia. The CGO will help developing IDB business in Indonesia. President of IDB Group Ahmed Mohamad Ali said that CGO could act as a platform to boost the program, such as infrastructure funding and technical assistant for both public and private.

"CGO can also increase trade value between member countries," he said.

IDB Country Gateway Office in Indonesia is located in Office 8 Building, Sudirman Central Business District (SCBD), Jakarta. Ibrahim Shoukry is appointed as Resident Representative.
