REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Council of Indonesian Ulamas (MUI) denies allegations that its Chairman Din Syamsudin provides funding for Islamic State Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The country's highest Islamic authority states that it condemns ISIS behavior.

"That is not true. We condemn ISIS behavior," the Head of International Affairs at MUI, Muhyiddin Junaidi, said on Wednesday, December 3.

Earlier, an issue says that US State Department releases a list of names who provide support for ISIS. Din Syamsudin and five other Indonesians are among the list.

Muhyiddin said that MUI had met with US Ambassador to Indonesia to clarify the information. "US Ambassador said that the report was illegal," he said.

MUI and 63 organizations in Indonesia held a meeting to talk on ISIS. They agree that ISIS is a radical movement. "We resist ISIS. It can break the unity of Muslim," he said.
