President issues Presidential Instruction on his social security cards

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Presiden Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo issues Presidential Instruction for his social security cards, namely Indonesia Health Card (KIS), Indonesia Smart Card (KIP) and Prosperous Family Saving Card (KKS). The Presidential Instruction Number 7/2014 was signed in November 3, as cited from the official website of Cabinet Secretary.

The instruction consists of implementation on prosperous family saving program, Indonesia smart program and Indonesian health program. About 20 parties, including 11 ministries get the instruction.

Specifically, Jokowi instructs  Minister of Human Development and Cultural Affairs Puan Maharani to enhance coordination on those three programs. The President also asks the former president's daughter to handle people's complaint on the cards. "The Minister has to report about the programs to the President at least once in three months," said the instruction.

Meanwhile, the governor turned president asks Coordinating Minister for Security Tedjo Edy Purdjianto to coordinate and evaluate the programs in term of political, law and security.

The three cards  were among Jokowi's promises during the electoral campaign. Jokowi believes that those cards is more usefull than previous programs, National Health Insurance (JKN) and Poor Student Assistance (BSM).

KIS was not only for people living below poverty line, but also for those living on poverty line. Every KIS holders will have health insurance provided by BPJS Kesehatan, with the premium only 19.225 IDR per person.

Meanwhile, KIPs were symbolically given to 24 poor students which were registered in BSM program. The amount of the cash transfer is ranging from 225.000 IDR per semester for elementary student, 375.000 IDR per semester for secondary school students and 500.000 IDR per semester for high schoolers. Those who receive KIP can cash in the money in Bank Mandiri branches and outlets.

While sitting as Jakarta Governor, Jokowi launched Jakarta Health Card (KJS). This KJS is used as a model for KIS. KJS insured 4.5 million residents with PT Askes, which now becomes BPJS Kesehatan.
