REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko 'Jokowi' widodo chooses not to live in State Palace. The complex, a building where president usually lives, also accommodates administrative purposes. Before he was sworn in, Jokowi said that he would live in State Palace with his family.
One of President Jokowi's aides, Pradista Machdala, said the President only stayed in Merdeka Palace for a night, right after he was sworn in in October 20. His family was also lived with him.
"The next day, President Jokowi moved to Wisma Negara (Guest House) ," Machdala said on Tuesday, November 11. Wisma Negara is located in the west wing of State Palace.
Machdala said that Jokowi wanted to separate his private live with his job. "He wants a different atmosphere," he said.
