REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Coordinating Minister for Economy Sofyan Djalil has pledged to accelerate the issuance of licenses and to simplify bureaucracy in the investment sector, in line with President Joko Widodo's directives.
"We will prioritize matters that merit urgent attention and implement the president's vision and mission by working quickly and proactively. This will ensure that the issuance of licenses is not protracted and that investment is not hampered," Djalil stated, following the inauguration ceremony here on Monday (27/10).
Sofyan Djalil was installed as the Coordinating Minister for Economy, replacing Chairul Tanjung from former president Yudhohyono's term.
According to him, speeding up the license issuance process, which will include easing the export of small-scale industrial products and transparency, will garner more attention to the sector and promote competition.
"Intrinsically, that the government is transparent is very important. (The process) has been slow so far due to overlapping regulations, which we will streamline," he remarked.
In addition to pledging to simplify the bureaucracy, Djalil affirmed that under his leadership, his office would also strengthen coordination among ministries as part of efforts to effectively and smoothly implement programs formulated by the government.
Apart from Sofyan Djalil, the other three coordinating ministers in President Jokowi's newly-inaugurated cabinet are Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Tedjo Edy Purdjiatno, Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Environment Indroyono Susilo, and Coordinating Minister of Culture and Human Resources Puan Maharani.
