REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAKKAH -- Minister of Religious Affairs, Lukman Hakim proposed the additional quota for hajj pilgrims during a meeting with Hajj minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bandar bin Mohammed Hajjar recently. Hakim explained that the waiting list of hajj pilgrims in Indonesia had reached 20 years. The additional quota will shorten the time.

"In order to improve services to hajj pilgrims from large countries, such as Indonesia, Minister submitted a proposal of additional quota for Indonesian pilgrims," Director General of Hajj and Umrah in Ministry of Religious Affairs, Abdul Djamil said in Jeddah recently.

Hakim also proposed the alternative solution for Indonesian hajj quota by utilizing unused quota from other countries. Although he has not yet received an answer, but Saudi Arabian minister put attention to this idea.

Indonesia also proposed additional facilities in Mina and Arafat, such as sleeping mattress, toilet and air conditioning. Hakim also hopes that Indonesian hajj pilgrims can be placed close to Jamarat - a place to throwing the pebbles at Mina. It is because the condition of Indonesian pilgrims weaker than other countries. If it cannot be implemented - in the name of equality for all countries - the placement can be carried out through draw system or qur'ah.

Saudi Arabian minister also hopes that Indonesian people can understand the real condition in Mina, which are restricted and cannot be expanded. Initially, Saudi Arabian government plans to build storey building in Mina, but it cannot be accepted by Islamic law, so that hajj pilgrims cannot be placed here. He hopes that Indonesian government can socialize the difficulties to its people.
