Indonesian Coffee Festival 2014 appreciates farmers life

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Coffee Festival (ICF) 2014 gave an appreciation to farmers life in producing qualified coffee.

According to Founder & Chairperson of the ICF Steering Committee Yanthi Tambunan, to get high quality coffee, it needs right process started from the planting method up to the harvesting of coffee The initial process would not success without coffee farmers.

"ICF is not only promoting coffee, but also gives insight to farmers and opens up market for them to be able to increase production and quality. In the end, Indonesian coffee farmers life can be lifted," Tambunan said in a written statement on Tuesday.

ICF journey begins with 'The Road To The Coffee Festival Indonesia' in Bandung on December 23, 2011, followed by 1st ICF in Ubud, Bali (2012) and Yogyakarta (2013).

"ICF has managed to gather all elements, namely coffee farmers, entrepreneurs, government, SME community, as well as coffee lovers. ICF could bring all elements to make Indonesia as the center of the world's coffee," Tambunan said.

Based on data, domestic coffee consumption rose 6-8 percent per year. Coffee consumption in Indonesia is predicted to reach 300,000 tonnes per year. It is a big opportunity for domestic manufacturers to focus work on local market.

ICF 2014 will be held on October 17-19 in Bali. Participants consist of plantations, roasters, brewers, coffee machines, café brands, coffee utensils, coffee bar, coffee spa dan coffee merchandising. The event aims to promote Indonesian coffee to the world.
