REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Informatics Tifatul Sembiring resigned from his post as of September 30 to fulfill his duty as the newly elected member of the Parliament for the period of 2014-2019.
"It is true. I have resigned from ministerial post," said Tifatul who will be representing the Justice and Prosperous Party (PKS) in the Parliament.
According to him there are three big projects which his successor needs to pay attention to, namely the Digital TV program development, the LTE 4G technology application in Indonesia and state-owned television TVRI's expansion program to rural areas. Sembiring also highlighted the need for the government to reduce the negative effects of internet such as copyright infringement, pornography, etc.
"It is also necessary to bring internet connection to people in the rural areas," said Sembiring.
