REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, AMMAN -- Palestinian government in likely to speed up the establishment of Indonesian consulate in Ramallah. Palestinian Prime Minister, Rami Hamdallah delivered his speech while welcoming Indonesian delegation in Amman, Jordan on Friday.
There are 10 members of House of Representatives led by Commission I chairman, Mahfudz Siddiq. The delegations were received directly by Hamdallah shortly after leaving the plane from Dubai. Siddiq explained that Indonesia planned to open a consulate in Palestine since two years ago. It has been delivered to President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Islami Haniya in November 2012.
During a working meeting with foreign minister, the plan still waited for the approval letter from Palestinian Authority. PM Haniya has expressed his mind that Indonesia should open a representative office in Palestina like other countries, not only an honorary consulate.
"For the first step, we open the consulate," Siddiq said.
Indonesian delegation also congratulated Hamdallah after replacing Hanaya's position a month ago. It becomes a manifestation of reconciliation agreement among all political power in Palestine.
