Govt to host International Infrastructure Conference & Exhibition

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) in collaboration with Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs will hold an event of Indonesia International Infrastructure Conference & Exhibition (IIICE) on November 5-7, 2014. Special staff member of Bappenas, Wahyu Utomo said that the event themed Building Partnerships in Promoting Social Economy and Growth in All Provinces in Indonesia.

"We support this event because it can encourage private sector to put more attentions on domestic projects," Utomo said in Jakarta recently.

According to Utomo, the new government is targeting the economic growth of seven percent, so it needs a fantastic budget to fund infrastructure projects in order to support the target. This event will be attended by a number of prominent leaders from government and private officials. They will discuss the importance of infrastructures in land, sea and railway, power plant, renewable energy and wastewater treatment.

The new government of Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and Jusuf Kalla will be a new chapter for infrastructure sector in Indonesia. Director of Public Private Partnership (PPP) Development in Bappenas, Bastary P Indra explained that this conference would support the new government to focus on 100 working days of Jokowi.

"Jokowi is likely to focus on development of transportation and energy infrastructure, which collaborate with central government, regional, state owned enterprises and private sector," Indra added.

IIICE is supported by the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and Steering Committe.
