REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR - The Rector of Udayana University Professor Dr I. Ketut Suastika has expressed hope that President-elect Joko Widodo would appoint professionals in strategic ministry posts in his cabinet.
"We expect that there are ample professionals to fill strategic posts," he stated on Friday.
According to him, several ministers and officials of political parties are recently embroiled in legal cases such as corruption, thus it is expected that the strategic ministries will be run by professionals.
The strategic ministries are the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Justice, and Ministry of Research and Technology. Suastika noted that Udayana University had cadres suitable to hold ministerial positions in Jokowi-JK's cabinet.
"There are some unscrupulous ministers and officials who do not have integrity, but we have professionals that have commitment and integrity," he affirmed.
He hoped that Jokowi-JK's cabinet will also accommodate native Balinese.
"There are professionals in Bali such as Prof. Bakta (former rector of Udayana University) or Dr Palguna (former judge of the Constitutional Court), which could be a reference," he pointed out.
