REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will probably serve another summons to state oil and gas company Pertamina president director Karen Agustiawan as a witness.
"KPK is very likely to summon her again in the alleged graft case at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry if the anti-graft body deems it necessary to follow her up on her testimonies related to the anti-corruption court's verdict," KPK deputy chairman Busyro Muqoddas stated on Wednesday.
"We will follow up and further study according to the KPK standards. It is unlikely to stop here," he noted.
He said the KPK had not yet found evidence pointing to the alleged involvement of the officials of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources other than Minister Jero Wacik and secretary general Waryono Karno.
"Right now, the only suspects are those people whose involvement has been proved, he pointed out.
The KPK on Wednesday named Wacik as a suspect in an extortion case after he received 9.9 billion IDR, KPK Deputy Chairman Bambang Widjojanto stated.
"He is believed to have misused his position as minister to extort money worth 9.9 billion IDR from various sources," Bambang noted.
According to the KPK's investigation, Wacik is believed to have ordered his staff to raise additional funds for the minister's operational costs. Wacik's staff then carried out fictitious activities, which were funded by sponsors from private parties.
"Some of the activities were fictitious," Bambang claimed.
