REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR -- The Bali Police have arrested 12 narcotic suspects, including a Lithuanian, in the period between July and August, this year.

"The arrested suspects are not part of a single syndicate. We are still investigating them," Bali police command's Head of Public Information Senior Adjunct Commissioner Sri Harmiti stated here on Wednesday.

Suspect VL (41) from Lithuania was arrested by customs officers at Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport at 1.30 a.m. local time, on Monday (August 11).

Following a thorough check of his baggage, customs officers discovered six packages of crystal narcotic material, one weighing 994 grams, another 986 grams, and four others 1,982 grams each.

The total weight of the evidence confiscated from the suspect reached 3,962 grams or almost four kilograms.

The law enforcement authorities believe that he is a member of a new syndicate from East Europe as that country has never been recorded as a narcotics exporter.

The 11 other arrested suspects are Indonesians hailing from various regions in the country such as East Java and Jakarta.

The police have confiscated 1,114 grams of marijuana and 4,064 ecstasy pills from them.
