KPK Chief: Indonesia needs to struggle for social justice

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Corruption Eradication Commission (KPU) Chairman Abraham Samad has opined that after 69 years of independence Indonesia still needs to struggle for social justice for all people of the country.

"Some 28 million people, or 11 percent of the total population, are still living under the poverty line," Abrahan Samad said here, Friday evening.

Samad expressed hope that after the commemoration of the 69th anniversary of Independence on August 17, 2014, Indonesia will be better with the new government of Joko Widodo able to realize social justice for all.

Corruption was one of the causes of poverty, and therefore corruption eradication would remain the primary agenda of the present and the next government, he said.
