REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, AMUNTAI -- Doctors and midwives at the Pembalah Batung hospital and community health centers in the Hulu Sungai Utara district in South Kalimantan have been requested to take leave in turn to assure continued availability of service.
The system also applies to specialists, the head of the district's health service, Drg Isnur Hatta, said here on Sunday in connection with the current Islamic post-fasting holiday during which a lot of people take leave to celebrate the event.
"If only one specialist is available at a division the service would not prevent him from taking a leave," he said.
He said however that he had ordered the director of the Pambalah Batung hospital to make a special service arrangement to assure availability of treatment despite the absence of the specialist.
He said he had also instructed community health centers to arrange a special schedule for paramedics including interns to stand by during the post-fasting holiday as many people would return to their home villages to celebrate the event.
"Service at community health centers must remain open in anticipation of traffic accidents or food poisoning cases," he said.
He said as some community health service heads would possibly be absent during the holiday he had called for good coordination between health service heads and workers.
"I have asked the cellphone numbers of community health service heads to be put up at each of the health centers for immediate notice," he said.
He said he had also asked community health services to coordinate with the hospital at the district's capital of Amuntai especially in anticipation of emergency cases.
