REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Transportation Evert Mangindaan Erenst called for adequate services ensuring safety and comfort for the people keen on returning to their hometowns for Lebaran (Mudik).

"Give the best services to the people seeking to return to their native villages for celebrating Idul Fitri," Erenst stated here on Thursday.

The minister urged all on-field officers to supervise earnestly while coordinating transportation for Idul Fitri.

He noted that every year, the government always strives to improve services during Mudik, so that the people can be served well.

"The government allowed the transport of bottled water during Lebaran as mineral water is the basic requirement of the people," Erenst affirmed.

People can use medium duty trucks such as colt diesel and pickup trucks for transportation between July 24 and July 29, he remarked.

The policy has been issued in order to facilitate safe and smooth distribution of basic goods and essential items.

The government has earlier set a regulation that vehicles used for transporting building materials and goods around the Lampung, Java Island, and Bali will no longer be allowed to operate a day before until four days after Lebaran.
