REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUALA LUMPUR -- A Malaysian tanker, MT Oriental Glory, was attacked by pirates on Tuesday midnight in Johor waters of Malaysia, with its gas oil cargo stolen.

The Royal Malaysian Navy said in a statement that the vessel was hijacked at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, and the pirates stole its gas oil cargo and damaged its communication equipment and engine.

The ship was traveling from Singapore to Sandakan, and its crew was unhurt.
