REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG -- The Organization of Land Transportation Owners (Organda) will prepare more than 43 thousand units of fleet during Eid al-Fitr 2014. According to Organda's chairwoman, Ekasari Lorena, the number of fleet this year increased by 20 percent compared to last year.
"In 2013, there were 23 thousand units of fleet prepared for 5.3 million land travelers, consisted of inter-city intra-province (AKDP) buses and interprovincial (AKAP) buses," Lorena said recently as reported by Maspriel Aries.
Number of bus travelers in this Ramadhan is expected to reach six million travelers as many people come to cities. Lorena also reminded the land transportation readiness to face Lebaran day this year.
"Many damaged roads along Java's northern coastal highway (Pantura) because of the road reparation is still not completed. Several paths also damaged because of flooding," Lorena added.
For example, Jakarta-Surabaya can take time of 25 hours compared to 20 hours in normal condition. Lorena added that the budget cuts for about 30 percent at Ministry of Public Works could have an impact on the road improvement. Bus company PT Ekasari Lorena Transport has prepared 400 units of buses and 50 units of new buses to face Lebaran Day this year.
