REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Mexican sculptor Jorge Marin will open an exhibition 'The Body as a Landscape' in Bandung, West Java on June 19-July 3, 2014. Indonesia is the next stop in his Asian tour after visiting Shanghai, Guangzhou and Singapore, which attracts more than 300,000 visitors.

The exhibition will be composed by 18 sculptures organized around three themes, namely – equilibrium, the body, and the fantastic, with a very meaningful piece, such as 'Indonesia: Garuda on Window,' a fantastic winged being, inspired by Garuda, the herald of the gods, a guardian and the national symbol of Indonesia.

“I have discovered Asia as a spiritual gaze towards my work which has led me to a profound introspection, to refresh my creative energy. I feel renewed," Marin said in a press release on Monday.

Mexican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Mexican Embassy in Indonesia will open the exhibition on June 19 at Soemardja Gallery and and will be presided over by HE Melba Pría (Ambassador of Mexico to Indonesia), Akhmaloka (Rector of the Bandung Technological Institute) and Aminuddin Siregar (Director of the Soemardja Gallery).
