REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SAMARINDA -- At least six member countries of the International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Art (CIOFF) will participate in the Erau Adat Kutai Culture Carnival and International Folk Art Festival (EIFAF).
Egypt, Italy, South Korea, Latvia, Philippines, and Russia will take part in the EIFAF to be held on Saturday (June 14) in East Kalimantan.
Sri Wahyuni, the chief sub-official of Tourism and Culture in Kutai Kartanegara, stated that six countries will join the carnival along with 30 local art communities.
"The carnival's theme will be "Wonderful Indonesia Cross Culture." We choose the theme as several forms of art and culture from Indonesia and other countries will be showcased during the festival," Sri remarked here on Tuesday.
The carnival will be held at 9 a.m. at 12.00 p.m. on Saturday. It will start from the Gerbang Raja Timbau Secretariat office and finish at the Art Market.
Several officers from regional administrations, public leaders, Kutai Kartanegara Regent and participants from six countries will be present on the honors stage.
"The invitees will wear Miskat traditional clothes at the culture carnival. Each participant will perform in front of the stage," Sri added.
At least 253 folk artists from 11 countries will take part in a joint parade with the Indonesian team from Kutai Kartanegara and other districts in East Kalimantan.
The carnival route will cover several areas in Kutai, including Kedaton Ki Hajar Dewantara Street and conclude at the Rondong Demang Stadium.
"We invite people to come and see the EIFAF parade. The event will be interesting as several forms of art and culture will be showcased by participants of eight countries of EIFAF," Sri pointed out.
