REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BELITUNG -- Bangka Belitung (Babel) province has been a favorite tourism investment destination in first quarter of 2014 worth up to USD 11,385 million or 88 percent from total investment in Babel, said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Mari Elka Pangestu.
"In this period Babel Island Province has been experiencing the highest investment for local investment, worth up to USD 11,385 million from the total local investment in first quarter 2014 in tourism worth USD 12,888 million," she said.
According to her, it showed an equal investment distribution throughout the region. She continued the increased of investment also showed investor eagerness to implement their investment outside Bali and Jakarta.
"Indonesia investment growth in first quarter of 2014 show an excellent growth rate which is US$ 130,128 million," she said.
Compared to first quarter of 2013 (year on year), it was up to 256, 42 percent from the whole realization of the investment started in January 2014.
The success of "Sail Belitung in 2012" was seen as a factor to boost the growth of investment in Babel.
"Hotel investors are also already in a rush to get in," she said.
