REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- JAKARTA -- Indonesia will boost food product export to South Korea. South Korea's economic growth reached 2.3 percent in 2013 compared to two percent in previous year.
"South Korea's economic growth has improved," Director General of National Export Development in Ministry of Trade, Nuz Nuzulia said on Sunday as reported by Nora Azizah.
The developed country becomes main market in Southeast Asian region with gross domestic product per capita of 33,200 USD in 2013. Nuzulia said that the Ministry was able to expand market in South Korea. Indonesian food export volume has been increased over the last five years and showed a positive growth of 8.78 percent.
The food product exports consist of fruits and vegetables, meat and poultry products, tea coffee, snacks and beverages, organic products, food ingredients, seafood, as well as various health products and dietary supplements. Many local products experienced an increase in demand.
Indonesian export product to South Korean can grow 10.5-11.5 percent with value of 4.9-5 billion USD. The trade balance between Indonesia and South Korea has a deficit of 170.16 million USD. Indonesia's total export to South Korea has reached 11.42 billion USD, while the import 11.59 billion USD. Indonesian food products export value to Korea Selatan has reached 69.19 million USD. South Korea becomes the seventh country of Indonesia's export destination.
