Study: Antam-Freeport's smelter capacity to increase to 400,000 tonnes

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Pre-feasibility study of the construction of processing and refining facilities (smelter) of PT Aneka Tambang and PT Freeport Indonesia shows that their smelter capacity will be increased from 300 thousand tonnes to 400 thousand tonnes.

President Director of Antam, Tato Miraza said that Freeport Indonesia would announce the study result. The semelter location has not been determined at this pre-feasibility study. Some locations will be decided in feasibility study.

In the original plan, the smelter with capacity of 300 thousands tonnes will absorb investment worth 2.2 billion USD. Yet, Mirza refused to explain the investment value if the smelter capacity to increased to 400 thousands tonnes.
