Golkar to invite two Islamic parties to join in coalition

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Golkar party is keen to invite two or three Islamic parties to join in coalition. Vice chairman of Golkar party, Fadel Muhammad said that the party needed Islamic parties for the strengthening of parliament and government.

"Golkar party will invite National Awakening Party (PKB) and Porsperous Justice Party (PKS) to join together in coalition," Muhammad said on Friday as reported by Bambang Noroyono.

The result of quick count 2014 showed that Golkar party chaired the second place after Indonesia Democratic Party of struggle (PDIP). Golkar got 14.40 percent of votes or potential to get 112 out of 560 parliamentary seats at the House of Representatives. PDIP controlled 19.10 percent of votes, while Democratic party as the ruling party dropped out of the big three with 9.60 percent of votes.

Muhammad said that Golkar would ensure the implementation of a strong presidential system. Golkar must reach half of parliamentary seats at the House.

Together with three major parties, he ensured the strengthening of next leader at parliament.
