REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CAIRO -- The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) led the ballot count in the legislative election held at the Indonesian embassy in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum last Friday, winning 55.5 percent of the votes cast.
PKS won 214 of 387 votes cast by 401 registered voters, the chief of the overseas election commission (PPLN) in Sudan, Suaib Tahir, said on Thursday.
Suaib noted that 14 votes were declared invalid.
He added that the Nation's Awakening Party (PKB) came in second with 54 votes (13.9 percent), followed by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) with 39 votes, the United Development Party (PPP) with 20 votes, the Golkar Party with 17 votes and the Crescent and Star Party (PBB) with 17 votes.
The People's Conscience (Hanura) Party received eight votes, the National Mandate Party (PAN) seven votes, the Democrat Party five votes, the Greater Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) Party four votes, and the National Democrat (Nasdem) Party two votes.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI) received no votes.
Suaib also said the overseas election commission in Sudan was waiting for six votes sent by mail.
Indonesian Ambassador to Sudan Burhanuddin Badruzzaman praised Indonesian citizens in Sudan, most of who are students and migrant workers, for exercising their rights to vote in the election.
