Minister praises Gates' contribution to Indonesian health issue

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Peoples Welfare Agung Laksono praised contribution of Bill Gates for his donation to the country's health program. The philanthropist donated 40 million USD during his to Indonesia.

"Indonesia is very grateful to Bill Gates who shows his caring to our health issue," Laksono said on Sunday.

Laksono met Gates on Saturday. The meeting was also attended by Indonesian Minister of Health Nafsiah Mboi and Mayapada Group CEO Sri Dr Taher. During the visit, Gates launched Indonesian Health Fund. The program will channel donation from Gates and some other local business persons.

The funds will be used to overcome health problems such as malaria,tuberculosis (TBC), HIV-AIDS, dengue fever and family planning program.
