Jokowi refuses to make coalition with many parties

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MALANG -- Presidential candidate of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle, Joko Widodo (a.k.a Jokowi) said that he did not interest to make coalition with many parties. Since engaged in politics, he never made political lobbying to get the victory.

"When I was in Solo, I only won 40 percent votes. In Jakarta, I only got 11 percent. I do not want to be a president with a low percentage. It is heavy," Jokowi said recently.

Former mayor of Solo said that there will be the distribution of seats in cabinet if a presidential candidate making to many coalitions. That is because the orientation is money. Jokowi only plans to make maximum coalition with seven parties. He said when PDIP getting a lot of votes in Parliament, it would be a fundamental power, so that later there would be no political negotiations.

"It must be built together without any transaction or win win solution. Let's we make this country better together. We are not lobby oriented, but the cooperation is a necessity," Jokowi said.

Jokowi said that he was optimistic to win both legislative and presidential election. PDIP Secretary General, Tjahjo Kumolo said that he would carry out an assessment on number of related parties that shared same vision and mission with PDIP in order to determine the potential of coalition parties.

"We have carried out meeting with 10 parties. We still communicate it," Kumolo said.
