REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MALANG -- Malang city government exported plastic ore to several countries in Europe, especially Netherland, which became the largest importer of the commodity. Head of Industry and Trade Department in Malang, Ida Ayu Made Wahyuni said that volume of export reached 3,837,843.16 kilograms (kg) with nominal value of 1,150,721.55 USD.
"We are targetting 15 percent increase of export value, including plastic ore," Wahyuni said recently.
Gold and silver jewelery also remains main export commodities with volume of 3,837,843.16 kg with value of 24,737,634 USD. The two commodities were produced by PT Niki Joyo exported to US, Germany, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Malang also imported several goods from Asian countries, such as Korea, Japan, China, Thailand and Philippines, as well as several European countries, such as Austria and Germany. Wahyuni said that this year was the last time to maximize the quality of export products to welcome ASEAN Economic Community in 2015.
The competition will be more opened, not only with local goods but also imported goods. Therefore, local commodity quality must be improved in order not to displace by imported goods.
