REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Governor of Jakarta, Joko Widodo (a.k.a Jokowi) did not want to sign a cooperation agreement with PT Jakarta Monorail. The reason, there are some irrational requirements, such as the ticket price that will be sold to public.

"The ticket price must be rational. It cannot be too expensive or too cheap," Jokowi said recently as reported by Halimatus Sa'diyah.

City government cannot decide the monorail tariff itself due to the project of 11 trillion IDR is built purely by private parties, not funded by regional budget. However, Jokowi asked Jakarta Monorail to make a rational calculation to be approved by city government.

"We must careful. We want to know what kind of calculation. If it is not rational, I do not want to sign it," former Mayor of Solo added.

Monorail project will be completed in the end of March 2014. Previously, provincial government and Jakarta Monorail agreed to complete the agreement by the end of February 2013. Though it was delayed from the target, Jokowi promised to complete discussion cooperatively to avoid many problems later.

Jakarta Monorail plans to impose ticket price of 5,500 IDR per passenger with an estimation of 150-220 thousand passengers per day. President Director of Jakarta Monorail, John Aryananda said that the tariff would be adjusted to inflation rate in 2016.
