REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKATA -- The largest telecommunication company in Indonesia, Telkomsel granted 30 buses to Jakarta provincial government. It will be managed by PT Trans-Jakarta.

"All buses branded Hino. We will hand over the buses from Telkomsel to city government," Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama said recently.

Jakarta continues to widen the opportunity of private sector as partner to contribute in form of buses to increase the number of Trans-Jakarta bus. More number of fleet will shorten the bus' arrival from seven or 10 minutes to a minute. People will leave their personal vehicles and switch to public transport.

Problem of traffic congestion always happens in capital city. It can be resolved and busway lanes remain sterile. Purnama said that city government would improve the quality of mass transportation by buying buses through Astra Group of Company.

"We will ask Astra to assemble Trans-Jakarta buses. The spareparts will use materials branding Scania or Mercedes made of aluminum," Purnama said.

The endurance of those brands can reach 10-20 years. So, instead of buying Chinese bus worth 3.4 to 3.7 billion IDR, it is better to buy Scania or Mercedes with price of 4.7 to 4.8 billion IDR.
