Indonesian military chief starts a five day working visit in China

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEIJING - Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) Chief General Moeldoko arrived in Beijing on Monday to start a five-day working visit in China, according to Indonesian defense attaché, Colonel Navy Samuel Kowaas.

He stated that the TNI Chief's visit to China aimed at strengthening and improving military relations as part of both the countries' strategic partnership that was agreed upon in April 2005. China is the first country outside ASEAN Moeldoko choose to visit. 

During the visit, Moeldoko would have a series of meetings with his Chinese counterpart General Fanf Fenghui, Chinese Defense Minister Genereal Chang Wangquan, and China Central Military Commission Deputy Chief General Fang Changlong, Kowaas added. According to him, the TNI chief will also review the Chinese Air Force and Naval base in Tianjin.

"The visit is also part of defense cooperation in the framework of Indonesia-China Defense Consultation Forum was signed in 2007," he explained. 

TNI also uses China's arsenal system, such as personal guided missile for Indonesia Air Force and Navy.
