REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- State-owned house developer Perum Perumnas experienced loss up to 15 billion IDR per year from construction of rusunawa (low cost rental apartments). President Director of Perumnas, Himawan Arief said that a number of rusunawa located in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta and Cengkareng West Jakarta.

"It was ineffective. Rusunawa program will also lead the company to deficit every year," Arief said on Monday.

The rental fee reached 100 thousand IDR per month and it cannot cover the amount of operational funds. The result, rusunawa's management must be paid by state budget. Company must allocate more funds to cover the lack of funds every year.

Arief said that government should not only intensify the rusunawa's construction, but also concerned to rusunami (low cost apartments). It is more promising.
