REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEHRAN -- The 9th Parliamentary Union of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States adopted 12 resolutions during four of its expert panels here on Saturday, spokesman Kazem Jalali said.
Talking to reporters, he said the resolutions focused on such issues as the al-Quds, Palestine and the occupied lands, finding ways to implement the union's resolutions on visiting Gaza, formation of parliamentarian delegations to visit western parliaments and the role of Islamic states' parliaments in neutralizing the Zionists plots aimed at Judaization of the Holy Quds as well as the occupied territories in Syria and Lebanon.
Ways to promote solidarity among Muslim countries to confront methods devised to damage the Islamic Ummah, challenging fanaticism and Islamophobia and also radicalism, proposed and adopted by the United Nations, were also discussed in the meetings, he added.
He said the foreign policies committee further examined issues such as terrorism, nation's legitimate right to confront occupation and aggression, situation in Sudan, sanctions against Islamic countries, rights of nations to gain access to the latest technologies for peaceful purposes.
Some 40 countries, out of 53 invited, are attending the 9th Parliamentary Union of the OIC member states, slated for February 14-19.
Twenty-five speakers are expected to take part in the meeting.
