REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Two distinguished American filmmakers, Freida Mock and Richard Pearce, come to Jakarta as part of the American Film Showcase (AFS) program, US Embassy said in a written statement in Thursday. Over the next two weeks, the filmmakers will meet with Indonesians in Java, Kalimantan and Sumatra to share their perspectives on American films and to discuss their careers.

While in Indonesia, Mock and Pearce will lead interactive discussions, workshops, and master classes on cinematography, documentaries, film production, the film industry, and film research and development.  As part of the AFS program, 36 AFS films will be screened, including Brooklyn Castle, Inocente and Mock’s G-Dog.  A full schedule of public screenings, information about the directors and film trailers (with Indonesian subtitles) can be found here: http://jakarta.usembassy.gov/news/sp_afs-140121.html

The American Film Showcase is a Us Department of State cultural diplomacy initiative, supported by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs through a grant to the University of Southern California's renowned School of Cinematic Arts. US embassies bring award-winning American documentaries, feature films, and animated shorts to audiences around the world through the AFS program.  The program gives foreign audiences the chance to see unique views of contemporary American society and culture in films from American independent film directors.
