Lippo Group invests in Padang

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PADANG -- Padang city government gave permission to the largest business group, Lippo to invest in Padang, West Sumatra. Mayor of Padang, Fauzi Bahar said that local government accommodated all suggestions from various organizations and people who were disagreed with the construction plan.

"It will be four integrated businesses initially, hospital, hotel, school and shopping center. However, we only recommended hotels and shopping centers," Bahar said recently.

Local people disagreed with the development of Siloam hospital and Lippo school. Lippo Group has submitted the environmental impact assessment or EIA documents.

Social Corporate Secretary of Lippo Group, Ambari Karim explained that the investment value reached more than one trillion IDR. Company plans to hire 1,500 local people. After the cancellation of hospital and school construction, Lippo Group keeps to invest in Padang coastal reclamation with a value of 10 trillion IDR.
