REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUDUS -- Several gas stations in Central Java's Kudus district are experiencing shortage of subsidized premium gasoline after floods disrupted supplies to the district.
"We are yet to receive fuel oil supplies from the state oil and gas company, PT Pertamina, in the past two days, due to floods that are affecting Kudus and its surrounding areas," stated Joko Santosa, a gas station operator in Kudus on Thursday.
As of now, the gas station is only selling non-subsidized Pertamax gasoline, he noted.
Joko claimed that the gas station receives premium gasoline supplies of around 32 thousand liters per day, while the non-subsidized Pertamax gasoline supplies are adjusted according to demand.
He pointed out that he had asked for additional fuel supplies to replenish the stocks. But the fuel trucks failed to reach Kudus as they got delayed due to floods.
Many motorcyclists also experienced difficulties in buying gasoline from retailers.
"I have traveled around to find retailers, but they also ran short of gasoline," motorcyclist Pujo Hastomo noted.
Even if they had gasoline, the price skyrocketed up to Rp9 thousand per liter, he claimed.
Meanwhile, a gas station at the Klaling village in the Kudus district still had adequate gasoline stocks.
At least four subdistricts in Kudus are flooded, forcing more than 3,670 people to evacuate their homes.
The floods also cut off the road link between Kudus and Demak district.
