President asks Muslims to follow characters of the Prophet Muhammad

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono asked all Muslims in Indonesia to follow characters of the Prophet Muhammad who brought goodness to others. Today, President attended Silang Monas, Central Jakarta to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

"We are grateful to Prophet Muhammad who is a transformative leader, able to transform society from the dark ages into a new era that is full of faith," he said on Tuesday.

According to him, Prophet Muhammad is a role model for leaders in the world. He was a hard worker, always studying and a protector of society. Prophet Muhammad protected all, building tolerance and keeping the brotherhood and harmony for all.

If it is associated to Indonesia, this country is the largest Muslim country in the world, but also a pluralistic nation consisted of six major religions, namely Islam, Protestant, Catholic, Buddhist, Hindu and Confucian.

President also asked all citizens to maintain security and also to increase harmony, especially ahead of general election in 2014.
