Indonesia to attract 3 million Chinese tourists by 2016

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia keen to attract three million Chinese tourists in 2016. Indonesian Ambassador to China, Sugeng Rahardjo said that it needed cultural and diplomacy approach, including promotion of new tourist destinations, such as Singkawang in West Kalimantan. 

Singkawang has Chinese New Year Celebration and Festival that can attract Chinese tourists to come.

"About 800 thousand Chinese tourists visited Indonesia in 2013. We want to increase the number to three million tourists in next two years," Rahardjo said on Monday.

Indonesia has renew its tourism cooperation with China. The earlier agreement on tourism cooperation between Indonesia and China was in 2000. The recent MoU will be followed with concrete action plans, including joint promotion, sharing information, travel facilitation, capacity building, tourism and investment in both countries.
