REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PHNOM PENH -- Indonesia is planning to establish direct flights from Jakarta Capital City to Cambodia’s Phnom Penh Capital City with an aim to boost business and tourism between the two nations.
The information was made known in Phnom Penh on Dec. 24 by outgoing Ambassador of Indonesia to Cambodia H.E. Soehardjono Sastromihardjo during a farewell visit to Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers (OCM) H.E. Sok An, reported Mr. Ek Tha, Spokesperson for the OCM’s Press and Quick Reaction Unit.
On the occasion, the Cambodian news agency AKP reported, the Indonesian diplomat said that Cambodia has potential in tourism sector which has attracted a huge number of Indonesian tourists to Cambodia so far, and he added that the establishment of direct flights between the two capital cities will facilitate the tourists’ visit and enhance business.
In reply, the Cambodian DPM Sok An welcomed the direct flights between Cambodia and Indonesia. He also encouraged the outgoing Indonesian ambassador to further boost milled rice export from Cambodia to Indonesia.
