REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, ISLAMABAD -- The 16th Session of Developing Eight (D-8) Council of Ministers concluded in Islamabad on Thursday with adoption of proposals by the member states.
As the chair of the organization, Pakistan hosted the meeting which was inaugurated and chaired by Mr. Sartaj Aziz, Advisor to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs.
During the session member states unanimously agreed to implement the agenda of the D-8 in letter and spirit.
Foreign Minister of Iran Dr. Mohammad Javad Zarif, Foreign Minister of Turkey Mr. Ahmet Davuto?lu, Deputy Foreign Minister of Indonesia Mr. Wardana and senior officials from other member states attended the meeting.
Pakistan also hosted two-day 34th commission meeting of the D-8 aiming to prepare agenda for the ministerial conference.
During the D-8 session Iran proposed to arrange the meeting of finance ministers from all D-8 members which was accepted.
Iran has also advised that meeting of D-8 members should be held on the sidelines of the United National General Assembly's next session.
It was also decided in the meeting that the charter of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry must be pursued.
The D-8 members were unanimous to enhance cooperation in transport sector by improving sea, rail, and road and air links.
Iranian Secretary-General of D-8 Seyed Ali Mohammad Mousavi announced the conclusion of the meeting.
Later Foreign Minister of Iran Dr. Mohammad Javad Zarif left for Tehran after attending the conference.
During his visit the Iranian foreign minister held meetings with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Sartaj Aziz, Advisor to the Prime Minister on National Security & Foreign Affairs and Foreign Minister of Turkey Ahmet Davuto'lu.
