Indonesia's SMEs products to penetrate Japanese market

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are ready to compete on global market. This is initiated through cooperation between PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) and Japan External Trade Organization (Jetro).

This cooperation aims to increase capacity building and market penetration between Indonesian and Japanese SMEs. It also provides working capital and investment. PNM also provides assistance and capacity building efforts to increase value added of national SMEs.

"National SMEs will be more competitive not only in domestic market but also in international market," CEO of PNM, Parman Nataatmadja after signed the cooperation agreement recently.

Nataatmadja said that Japan has big market with strict standardization. Therefore, PNM needs to prepare Micro Capital Service Unit (ULaMM), which has a competence in producing high quality products according to Japanese market demand. Jetro is an organization formed by Japanese Government to promote trade and investment throughout the world.

"There are 22 thousand Indonesia's SMEs processed to penetrate Japanese market," Setiawan added.

The signing of agreement was conducted by CEO of PNM and President Director of Jetro (Kenichi Tomiyoshi). Former Japanese Prime Minister (Yasuo Fukuda) and Chairman of Indonesia - Japan Friendship Association (Rahmat Gobel) accompanied them.
