REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia's Anti-Terror Squad, Densus 88, has taken three terror suspects into custody in the past week, two of which were caught in Bekasi, West Java, and one in Lamongan, East Java.

The arrests were made on Wednesday (Dec. 11) and Sunday (Dec. 15) the Head of Public Information Bureau of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Headquarters, Brigadier General Boy Rafli Amar, stated here on Monday.

"The suspect caught in Lamongan, East Java, is known as Raden Irwan, alias Arkom, while those caught in North Bekasi are Abidin and Fahri, alias Agus," he added.

Boy said Raden Irwan and Abidin, who were caught on Sunday (Dec. 15), are members of the Kodrat Network, which is a splinter cell of the Abu Omar Group.

Another splinter cell of the Abu Omar Group is the Abu Roban Cell, he claimed.

Boy noted that the Kodrat cell was believed to be responsible for the robbery of a jewelry shop in Tambora, West Jakarta, which took place some time ago. The aim of the robbery was to raise funds (fa'i) for financing their terrorist activities.

"Raden Irwan is believed to be involved in supplying arms for the fa'i's operation," he stated.

Boy said Abidin, who was caught in Kali Abang Nangka, North Bekasi, on Sunday evening (Dec. 15) is a member of Raden Irwan's cell.

Fahri alias Agus, who was caught on Wednesday (Dec. 11) in Jalan Taruna I, North Bekasi, at 8 p.m. is part of the Thorik terrorist group that is believed to possess explosive materials and hazardous chemical substances.

"Fahri has connections with Thorik, who was caught in Bojonggede, Bogor, West Java, and also figures on the wanted list," he added.

Boy stated that although no evidence had been confiscated, the arrests were made to detain all members of terrorist groups that have not yet been caught.

"The three have been taken to Jakarta. This is part of the efforts to eradicate groups that are strongly believed to conduct terrorist activities," he claimed.
